The Vinculum

Kasuto is now 30 years old. In recognition of this fact, I encourage all of you to give me $30. Anyone? Well, it was worth a shot. At least now I can resonably complain about "kids these days."

Okay, so... I'm just some poor dumbfuck that doesn't know how to properly build a database. My dad is some lazy git that doesn't want to do his own GD financial paper work; and complains about how costly any decent, and likely helpful database programs are.

We have microsoft office access 2007(full version) I have pretty much all the equations I'd need to make the database, but I have no idea how to go about constructing it.

I'd need to specifically make seperate tables for individual customers, and then be able to cross-reference them for monthly payments, and monthly totals. And I think Access 2007 has a reciept function, so I also need to know how to use that to both print the payment, and paste the payment to the appropriate customer table.

I've googled database, and access tutitorials, none are all that helpfull. Can anyone help me here? Sephy maybe?

Learn SQL, if you have Visual Studio that'll help.

Honestly Databases were my least favorite part of any of my programming classes, and we only covered them for about a week.

Just throw a couple of tables in Access around. Googling Microsoft Access tutorial should help. I never really used Access, but using a real SQL relational database is probably overkill for a task like this and requires you to do real programming.

If all else fails, just do everything in an Excel spreadsheet with a bunch of formulas. Does wonders for secretaries worldwide!

Oh, I've all but founded a layout for this in spreadsheet. But it doesn't have any crossreferencing tools.

And I guess I'm getting my lingo mixed; I'm not wanting to write a program for it. Just to be able to construct tables for paying customers, and then reference them to seperate tables as reports. I was to the understanding that that was called a database, I guess not... The only "database" program that I have is Access 2007, and all the free ones that I can find are shit, and I still have the problem of creating the "database" to begin with.

And again, I have googled tutitorials on it, read them, and while they do prove informative, they've yet to enlighten me on how I need to construct this layout to work properly. That is where my problem lies.
