The Vinculum

Kasuto is now 30 years old. In recognition of this fact, I encourage all of you to give me $30. Anyone? Well, it was worth a shot. At least now I can resonably complain about "kids these days."

Ok, so I've gotten a letter in the mail regarding my course for college. I calculated the cost for my books for my two year program, and it's around over 2000 bucks in total (I am assuming for the four semesters in total)

But, I'm getting a summer job, but even then the money I make from summer won't really come close for books.

Because, when I get paychecks, I plan to put half of it away in a savings account and keep the rest for emergincies and stuff alike.

So what can I do about paying for books? Is there a way to get used books cheaper..?

Or any payment plans.. something or other..

I'm totally new to this college thing..so if anyone has been through the whole tuition/books payment thing..

tell me what you did..cause I'm really think I am stuck in a pickle >.<

Check if your college bookstore sells secondhand copies. Mine used to, so if you get in quick you might get one as there will be limited copies. Also, look online. Former students may sells theirs online, even on Ebay. There may be other bookstores that sell the same book cheaper, and you may even find it's cheaper to order books from overseas (although this may not be the case if you're in the US, but as an Aussie, sometimes the same books were way more expensive here than the US).

Do you have to buy all the books at once? Or can you buy a semester's worth at a time? When you start college, you may meet students who have already done the subject, and may be willing to sell the book to you or even loan it to you.
