"The Mines of Serpential", Chapter 11
The Mines of SerpentialThe First Story in the "Demon's Prayer" TrilogyBy: AfterlyfeLink screamed, then gasped for air. Rain poured in, and he spat it out, sobbing from pain. He sat up, blinking out the rain from his eyes, but was only to see a blur in front of him. His chest was nearly split open, and his Triforce on his hand burnt and shone. The pain was great and Link could barely breathe because of the heavy rain. He was alone in the wilderness, freezing to death, and soaked. His head ached and bled. He cried out in pain and laid back again, blubbering. The wound slowly sealed itself using the Triforce's healing powers. The pain weakened and Link moved around, trying to see where he was. He fainted again. When he awoke, Ganondorf was there, looking beaten as well. But a faint smile was there, stained with blood. "You're awake... You feel okay?" Link tried to nod, but instead blood gurgled from his throat, choking him. He coughed. His memory faded slowly. He had no idea where he was and why he was there. He was still in the rain, that's all he knew... Ganondorf lifted him, carrying his limp body on his back. Link felt his head slowing down again, his thoughts molded into a clump of an idea, then died. Black again. When Link woke up once more, the feeling was warmer. Electric lights shone brightly, soft cloth pressed against his body. He moved his hand slowly and stiffly, to see if he was alive. So warm... Something moist began wiping against his arm, and Lute growled. The growl quieted, then Lute barked. Link flinched at the noise, and Ganondorf hissed, "Shut up, dumb dog..." Lute growled again. Ganondorf was sitting in a room with Link, no one else was there. Not yet, anyway. Link's chest wound ached severely. "W-what happened? Where am I?" "Oh... How long have you been awake?" "A while..." Link swallowed, something blocking his throat. "...You must've hit your head harder than I thought. Do you remember anything?" "Well..." Link paused. "I remember... Blackhawk." "That far back?" Ganondorf looked troubled. "That was nearly a year ago. Have you forgotten everything about the Spirit Sciences?" Link stared at Ganondorf strangely. "...What?" "Shoulda known... Great time for amnesia, too... Curses, I should've told you to stay back..." "Stay back?" Link rolled over and tried to get up. "No, don't you dare try... You'd break a leg if you tried to stand up. You got really beat up." "From what? What hit me? Why are you..." Ganondorf sighed skeptically. He was reluctant to say much, but Link knew they had been in a fight of some sort. Ganondorf had sword slashes on his arms and face. "... There was Tyrijjgua to take care of. You were dying, so I tried following Tyrijjgua's path, ready to fight her. I had the plan all set out: I'd keep my power low when I challenged her, she'd transform into a stronger version of me, and I'd become this 'Ganon' that you once spoke of... I don't remember anything after that, though. When I woke up, Tyrijjgua was dead. You got injured when I was sword-fighting her. I didn't know you were right behind me, so when I dodged a blow, you got hit in the chest..." Ganondorf stopped, groaning and clutching to his arm. It was the same feeling that he had felt when he fought Tyrijjgua and began forming into Ganon. Link looked alarmed. "What's wrong?" Ganondorf grunted, the pain writhing and trying to reach the shoulder. It all was coming from the Triforce and Ganondorf was trying to block it off. "N-nothing... Go back to sleep, you'll need it..." A she-demon laughed until her rotted sides ached. "'Tis the age of wicked angels and righteous demons... But there are those who are paid too well to keep up with that... Demons will never be one with humans, no matter how many of them wish to be... Those are fools who obviously never saw the fun in watching a human slowly die because of yourself... Ganondorf has proved himself to be wonderful entertainment... As the prophecies say, he'll die protecting an enemy... Let's see if he doesn't die killing a friend after I'm done with him, shall we?" |
