The sun had risen in the east as leaves flew in the warm breezy day. The wind danced across the whole plains of Hyrule and sneaking up traveler’s shirts and chilling them.
All the while, Zelda walked in a small cemetery. The wind seemed to howl at her sad presence. Tears freely streamed down her face as she stopped and kneeled down in front of a tombstone.
“It’s been a week,” Zelda sighed. “Since you have gone. Father is worried about me more than ever… of course…”
Zelda’s eyes rained down as she sniffed and cried. “You never deserved to die! I loved you and we where going to get married, have kids, and enjoy all of life like we always did. I just,” Zelda shook her head in sadness. “…Hope… Wish, that maybe a miracle could happen. And that could bring you back, and make me happy again.”
Her finger outlined the name of Prince Winchel, beloved son carved on the tombstone… Zelda wrapped herself in her black cloak, wishing he would be there to warm her up, instead of a simple piece of cloth.
Zelda looked back and took a bundle of flowers that a guard held for her. She then placed it by the grave and walked away, escorted by the guards that followed her.
“Your majesty, are you okay? Is there something you would like to request from us?” asked one of the soldiers. Zelda sighed with a shake of her head.
“No thanks I require none of your assistance, now,” she replied. The air became silent once more.
“Please sir!” said a small child. She was clad in small rags with a smaller girl with her, who seemed to be unable to talk, or too afraid to talk in front of the gristly man with much girt.
“I’m sorry! I cannot sell these without the right amount of money! You have too little! This is not a charity here! I’m a salesman!” he roared, his face getting red with frustration and anger.
The loud sound of his booming voice scared the feeble yet starving children away. The man then relaxed at this and went to another customer.
Link watched this sight with disgust. Was there no generosity anymore? Were there no friendly people around the village? Sure it was quite peaceful, but this man had totally scared everyone who didn’t have money.
But even though Link had no money, he couldn’t let those children run away like that with no food to live with. He watched as the man became distracted with a customer and wrapped his fingers around two delicious and fresh red apples.
Link then casually hid them in his pouch and walked away, pretending that nothing came to his liking.
“Hold on there boy!”
Link froze as the man bellowed at him. The man sneered.
“Don’t think you’re getting away with that! I have eyes in the back of my head you know! For I saw you steal two of my apples! Hand them over!”
Link, feeling rather rebellious, dashed off instead, heading for Death Mountain Trail, so guards wouldn’t find him.
Sure, he thought. He was a wanted man anyway, mistaken for committing a crime, when he was actually saving one of the most important people in Hyrule. It wouldn't hurt to steal something for two desperate children.
One he ran up the stairs he dropped the two apples by the two children and shot them a thumbs up before leaving. The children smiled gratefully as they took the two apples and enjoyed their deliciousness.
“He’s heading for the gate! Close it!” shouted someone. From Link’s guess it was obviously a guard. He frowned as the gate closed and a guard came charging up at him.
Instead of fighting, Link leaped up and grabbed the edge of a house roof. Pulling himself up there, and he stood up and looked at his surroundings.
The salesman had caught almost every guards attention and Link frowned of his possible ways of getting out of this mess.
“I’ll just have to jump down and climb the gates,” Link said to himself.
He looked down to see a clear spot to land. He immediately jumped down, catching attention of the guards. They charged forwards, making Link unable to climb the gate without losing his legs.
~I’m trapped! Just great!~
Link went to take out his sword in a defensive position, but rethought.
~I can run forever. Maybe I should just go to jail.~
Link sighed and dropped his sword on the ground. The guards hesitated in shock, never having to deal with a criminal without a fight, but they soon came back to reality and took him away.
