The Market had long lost the usual jovial atmosphere that had once hovered about. People were quiet, preferring to keep to themselves and their families, and guards strolled around the long, narrow streets. Only two families seemed to resist the cold tension, which had already invaded Hyrule.
Within the confines of the Royal Castle, a young family sat at a table, along with the King, the Princess, and a few other advisors of the king. The young man had all the making of a great military man, as his uniform was drowned in many shiny medals and medallions, one of which gave him the rank of colonel. The young woman wore a pure white dress, which had various designs along the front. The people at dinner happily, and laughed at many jokes at stories that were exchanged.
The young Princess was friends with all the others around her, and all of them were about her age, but she considered the youngest boy as her best friend. She had a strange feeling that she would need to rely on him for something major at some point in the future.

After a while, the king was asked by a servant to meet with one of his advisors. The king turned to his friend, the father of the other children, and suggested for his presence at this meeting. As his family left the castle, the colonel headed down a narrow hallway with the king. Eventually they reached a medium- sized room with a single occupant.
"My Lord, the invasion worsens. General Dae is dead. Our troops attack in utter confusion. Many have changed sides. And they won't be the last if no action is taken. They remain a hundred miles from here."
"We must assume a defensive. Call all our troops here. We will make our stand."
As these words were spoken, two birds landed on a window sill nearby. They approached the room where the men calculated damage.
"Your Majesty, hope for Hyrule is not lost. The Republic of Bern had an invasion attempt on Tremania, and the invasion ended in total defeat of those troops. Tremania has declared our support for Hyrule."
"You… defeated them?" The king asked, surprise glazed his in his voice.
"Yes. Thanks to some no doubt brilliant planning, the invasion force landed in the Ikana Region. As the troops there are all dead, they had little trouble quelling the uprising."
"The Empire of Quell has also declared our support for the Hylean war effort. Bern also tried to invade us , but thanks to some guerrilla Rito, all is well.
"Even with this support, we remain alone now. Batai, I ask you, as a friend, to go home. I will personally command our troops." The king looked nervously out the window, but determination was burning within.
"Not a chance. It is my duty to serve you. There can always be more colonels, but a new king is hard to find. If I may say this, it would be best if you go into hiding. I will find you when it's over." With that, the brave colonel walked out of the room, his face flooded with determination.

The clock struck eight as the bright moon smothered the crowded Market. Soldiers patrolled every street through the capital.. Officers were yelling at anyone they could find. Everyone seemed jumpy.
Suddenly, atop the hill near the ranch, row upon row of men appeared, clad in bright red. As they approached, drums became audible. One of the three men at the front of the lines held a flag of Bern. Behind them were several lines of trained swordsmen, their ruby colored armor reflecting the bright moon. Behind them horses became audible as they stomped on the ground, their riders also using red armor. As they came to a stop, the leading officer proceeded a few feet. When he halted, the Hylands hardly dared to breath. Batai and the hostile officer shouted in unison "Attack!" Thus, the battle that was long awaited finally began.
