I made my way out of the forest. In my way out, Mido the kokiri came up to me with a huge grin on his face. He asked me, "Link, is it true you broke up with Saria?"
I stared at him blankly, then looked down at my shoes and muttered, "Yes."
Mido's grin got bigger. Oh, how I hated him! He loved Saria and was jelous when we became a couple. Now he's happy we broke up. But he's more happy about the way it happened. He thinks Saria hates me now, but he doesn't know how close we are.
I just ignored him and ran out of the forest. I went running all the way to Lon-Lon Ranch, where my new girlfriend, Malon, lived. I know, I promised Saria I wiould be going to the Market, but Malon had beem dying to know about Saria and me.
I stopped at the entrance of the ranch and took a deep breath before going in. Before I could take a step in the ranch, no one but Malon came running up to me. She had such a excited look on her face, I had to form a smile in my face. She yelled, "Link! It's so good to see you!"
She must've noticed I had a puzzled look on my face, so she said quickly, "I n know, I only saw you 2 hours ago. But worst of all, I have a secret I'm only supposed to tell my loved one. And guess who that is?"
I smiled at her. I knew she meant me. "You have some kind of secret boy-friend that you don't want me to meet, huh?" I grinned to show I was teasing.
She answered back, "Don't be silly." Then she formed a sad look on her face.
She noticed I was staring at her, so she tried hard to bring back her smile. I was worried and asked her, "What's wrong?"
She ran up to me and started crying on my shoulder. She managed to say, "Oh, Link! It feels like I haven't seen you in years! I had a weird trip! Boy, was I scared!"
She started crying again, so I patted her back and said, "There, there."
Malon stared into my eyes and mumbled something I couldn't hear. I said softly, "I can't hear you."
She then started crying so hard, I took her into her house. Then she said, "I'm afraid you don't like me Link! I had such a trip, I don't remember what happened, but I think it was some kind of weird dream." She started sobbing.
I asked her to tell me, but she refused. So I decided to leave. I said, "Well, I'm sorry Malon, but I have to Hyrule Market."
She then screamed, "Don't go! I'm afraid you'll fall in-" She stopped there.
I told her, "Go on. Finish off your sentence."
She refused, but after a few tries, she agreed to tell me. The whole story. I sat with her in the couch so she could tell me what was going on. She then started saying, "Well, while you went back to the forest to break the news to your friend, Saria, about us, I decided to take a nap. I fell asleep on the couch.
"Well, then I had some kind of weird dream of you going over to the market to buy some supplies. Then you stopped at a store and saw some girl your age their. Well, you went up to her and tapped her back. You asked her what her name was, and she responded, 'Oh? Me? I'm Zelda. Princess Zelda. And you are?' You told her about yourself, and she invited you to her castle to spend the night with her. You agreed, so you went back to the forest to pick up your things for the sleepover.
"Then that night, my dad was missing from deliviring milk to the castle. I went to look for him, and I told a guard about myself and what I was doing at the castle.
"When I went looking for Dad, he was stuck in this small hole. The only way to get him out was pushing him in then going in to get him.
"I pushed him in, then I went inside to get him. Then I saw you. You were in the grass. You were with Zelda. And you kissed her. On the lips! Then I woke up!"
I felt sorry for Malon. How could she believe in a dream? I tried telling her that, but she insisted. Then I had a thought. I question actually. "Malon, you said you were supposed to say this story to your loved one only. Why?"
She stared at me as if I had just said I wanted to brake up with her. She then said, "I was just making sure you were my boyfriend, that's all. I guess you are." She formed a smile on her face.
"Go. Go to the market. But promise not to fall in love with the princess." I knew she was teasing, so I gave her a quick kiss and said good-bye to Malon. Now I was off to the Market.
