Link walked away from his friend. He didn’t want her to think he was mad at her because He was more angry with himself. He just couldn’t accept the idea of his little cousin being one of the sages. She was like a sister to him and he didn’t know what he’d do if anything happened to her.

He decided to go to the gym and wait there alone. He snuck past the teacher guarding the cafeteria lobby door and headed for the gym. He opened the door and went up to the bleachers sitting alone with his thoughts.

A few minuets later he heard the bell ring. Then students started walking into the into the gym and towards the locker rooms. He saw Zelda come up to him. “Link I’m sorry if I said anything wrong. Please don’t be angry with me I didn’t mean anything.”

“Don’t worry Zel it’s not your fault...I gotta go change,” he went to the locker room. Zelda went to hers as well. Ten minutes later the middle of the gym was filled with teenagers sitting and listening to their teachers talk. Well not really listening.

“Link tell me what’s wrong,” she whispered to him.

“Not here, later,” he was trying to use Phoenix as an excuse but he was to busy looking at a girl to pay any attention to what they were saying.

“Fine when we get out to the track tell me.”

Ten more minutes

The gym classes were walking around the large track. Zelda persisted Link, “Ok now tell me what wrong. Come on we’ve got three more laps to go.”

“Nothing, I’m okay trust me.” Zelda didn’t want to push for an answer anymore. She decided to take a risk.

“Link will you at least check her out. I’ve gotta good feeling she’s a sage.” She didn’t have to say her name. He knew who she was talking about.

“Ok fin,” he gave in, “But I don’t even know what I’m looking for.”

“I’m sure you’ll find it,” she said and they continued to walk around the track in silence.

. . .

While Zelda was at soccer practice Link walked home with Laurel. They went through the woods as usual and he looked for any signs of her being the Forest Sage...wait what was he looking for? He had no idea how to find a sage.

They emerged from the woods into the small park and he stopped. “Go on home Laurel, I gotta go get something I forgot.”

“Whatcha forget?” she asked

“Uh, a book,” he answered clumsily and turned around. He walked over a few yards from where they came out. He made sure no one was looking and went down the small almost hidden path. There he came out into the small field with the well. He went over to the hollow in the tree and got his sword out. Then he made the hardest decision of his life. He went down the well to ask Dacra for help.
