Nightblade by Dragonwarrior
Summary: Out of the whole Legend of Zelda series, Link's past is neither known or explained at any point. His future remains blank as well. This is a story about Link's life, mainly focusing on times that we don't know what is going on. Later on, it will contain crossovers to Fire Emblem, Lufia: The Legend Returns, Soul Caliber II, as well as many others. It will also contain reference to two fanfictions already posted on this site. These are "Origins" which was written by Kasuto of Kataan, and "The Story of Linette" by Magaret Hogan. Unfortunatly, I guess I was really tired when I read it (way to go Marching Band!), I misread the name as Lisette, but it is essentially the same person. As of the moment, it is rated G, but it will have violent quotes in it later on. For those of you who just saw this, I do know how to spell the word "Legend."

Frontier to the Future by Dragonwarrior
The stars glittered brilliantly, in the middle of a vast field that lay about ten miles from the Market. Alone stood a middle aged man, looking as though he was waiting for something. Just behind him was a small village with a small number of occupants, but a miniscule number of them still awake.
For about an hour this man stood there, as still as the single tree, which remained unaffected by the slight breeze behind him. Finally, a group of six or seven others appeared at his side. This group of people were about as old as the man, and a fairly even number of men and women now occupied the field. The silence of nature was countered only by the soft voices of the group.
"Did you discover the location?"
"We found a lunar chart, which revealed everything. It will occur in precisely fourteen minutes and thirty- six seconds at the point in front of all six temples."
"We must get there, before consequences occur."

Ten minutes later, the group, along with a pack of steeds, stood in a different field, a ranch in the background. It was now past midnight, and the field, with the exception of these individuals, remained unoccupied. The only sounds were the steeds pawing at the ground and occasionally a cricket or two in the distance.
Suddenly, the jet black sky was contrasting the fire red color that had appeared from nowhere. At the point where a rock should have been was a milky white bubble, which seemed to protect the man, women, and six children it surrounded. The man appeared to suffer from some type of strain, contrasted by the six children, all of whom were asleep, and the women, who talked to the man in a foreign voice. The bubble's speed decreased, along with distance between it and the ground. Within minutes, it disappeared from around the occupants, who stood upon solid ground.
"Your arrival has been predicted, though we don't know your cause. Welcome to the sacred land of Hyrule."
These words were directed at the man, more than anyone else. He approached the group cautiously before he spoke. His words faded into nothingness, as his language was foreign. The communication conflict was solved when one of the children approached the cluster of people. He was the same age as his brothers and sisters who sat behind him. Though everyone knew he had never been to Hyrule before, the language seemed second nature to him.
"I had no idea anyone knew of our movements, but thank you. We have finally made it to a civilized planet. We have made it to peace."
"If you can get your family to follow us, we will show you to your house."
"You know where we can buy a house?"
"No. We only know where your house is. The one we were instructed to buy for you."
"Instructed? By who?"
"As to this, I can give no clear response. You will know when the time is right."
"O…kay…"
"Now let's get going. We have a lot of work to do, and very little time to do it."

A few minutes later, the family stood outside a beautiful, brick and wooden house. The house was equipped with a stove, enough food to last for a month, seven bedrooms, and faced the Royal Castle. The house had a nice sized yard, which was neatly trimmed and weeded. In less than five minutes, the bedrooms were assigned, everything was checked for hazardous conditions, and the whole family fell asleep. The only person who resisted fatigue was the same boy who spoke Hilanan. The words "…you will know when the time is right …" were fresh in his mind.
Last Hope by Dragonwarrior
The Market had long lost the usual jovial atmosphere that had once hovered about. People were quiet, preferring to keep to themselves and their families, and guards strolled around the long, narrow streets. Only two families seemed to resist the cold tension, which had already invaded Hyrule.
Within the confines of the Royal Castle, a young family sat at a table, along with the King, the Princess, and a few other advisors of the king. The young man had all the making of a great military man, as his uniform was drowned in many shiny medals and medallions, one of which gave him the rank of colonel. The young woman wore a pure white dress, which had various designs along the front. The people at dinner happily, and laughed at many jokes at stories that were exchanged.
The young Princess was friends with all the others around her, and all of them were about her age, but she considered the youngest boy as her best friend. She had a strange feeling that she would need to rely on him for something major at some point in the future.

After a while, the king was asked by a servant to meet with one of his advisors. The king turned to his friend, the father of the other children, and suggested for his presence at this meeting. As his family left the castle, the colonel headed down a narrow hallway with the king. Eventually they reached a medium- sized room with a single occupant.
"My Lord, the invasion worsens. General Dae is dead. Our troops attack in utter confusion. Many have changed sides. And they won't be the last if no action is taken. They remain a hundred miles from here."
"We must assume a defensive. Call all our troops here. We will make our stand."
As these words were spoken, two birds landed on a window sill nearby. They approached the room where the men calculated damage.
"Your Majesty, hope for Hyrule is not lost. The Republic of Bern had an invasion attempt on Tremania, and the invasion ended in total defeat of those troops. Tremania has declared our support for Hyrule."
"You… defeated them?" The king asked, surprise glazed his in his voice.
"Yes. Thanks to some no doubt brilliant planning, the invasion force landed in the Ikana Region. As the troops there are all dead, they had little trouble quelling the uprising."
"The Empire of Quell has also declared our support for the Hylean war effort. Bern also tried to invade us , but thanks to some guerrilla Rito, all is well.
"Even with this support, we remain alone now. Batai, I ask you, as a friend, to go home. I will personally command our troops." The king looked nervously out the window, but determination was burning within.
"Not a chance. It is my duty to serve you. There can always be more colonels, but a new king is hard to find. If I may say this, it would be best if you go into hiding. I will find you when it's over." With that, the brave colonel walked out of the room, his face flooded with determination.

The clock struck eight as the bright moon smothered the crowded Market. Soldiers patrolled every street through the capital.. Officers were yelling at anyone they could find. Everyone seemed jumpy.
Suddenly, atop the hill near the ranch, row upon row of men appeared, clad in bright red. As they approached, drums became audible. One of the three men at the front of the lines held a flag of Bern. Behind them were several lines of trained swordsmen, their ruby colored armor reflecting the bright moon. Behind them horses became audible as they stomped on the ground, their riders also using red armor. As they came to a stop, the leading officer proceeded a few feet. When he halted, the Hylands hardly dared to breath. Batai and the hostile officer shouted in unison "Attack!" Thus, the battle that was long awaited finally began.

As red flooded the small capital, the Hyleans fought bravely but were poorly trained, equipped, and outnumbered to make too much of a difference. As the battle waged, no one seemed to notice Batai run to the castle. He headed around to the back of the large, grey structure until he reached a large boulder. After he reached it, he began knocking on it. A few guards appeared beneath it and allowed Batai to enter. Not everyone was engaged in battle, however, and a few men in red ran toward the hole and easily dispatched the two guards. Once inside, there were several passages that led in several different directions. They all headed down different passages. The only sound heard was some quiet talking.
As the king and Batai met up, Batai was able to warn the king of the company they had picked up. In less than a minute, a small glimmer of red was visible in the pitch black passage. Batai charged, easily taking his enemy down. Permanently. He looked over his shoulder and noticed another passage met up with this one. Upon his approach, a figure drew a small sword, and, with lightening speed, drove it into the heart of the young colonel. As the body fell forward, the sword Batai held sunk directly into his opponents face. Both fell to the ground, awaiting burial.

At the market, things weren't too much different. Houses were ignited. Bodies littered the street. Bern soldiers had begun running into homes and raiding them. The commanding officer had a different idea, however. After forcing others to talk, he learned which house belonged to the top Hylean colonel. When he entered, he only saw a young woman. He drew his sword and jammed it into her. He waited a second to confirm the death when he heard a small noise from a closet. He opened it and found a young boy inside. He grabbed a different sword, preparing to dispatch the kid. As he did so, a blinding flash flew from the boys' body onto the officers'. The officer opened his mouth, but fell to the floor without time to yell.
Power of Alliance by Dragonwarrior
As the Hylands had but a handful of soldiers left, it appeared that Bern would have little trouble seizing the castle. This was the destination for their troops. They left the streets that were covered by Hylands, a small percentage of them soldiers. When they arrived, the only obstacle left was a young boy who stood between them and the castle. His identity was guessed only by the two assassin's blades he had in his hands, which colonel Batai usually had in his possession. As they approached, a strange light smothered his body, with rays shooting at the troops. Taking out row after row, but weakening the young fighter. After a few minutes, he collapsed. Some Bern soldiers had the nerves to approach him, though many kept their distance. As the Bern soldiers approached the castle, a drum beat sounded in the distance. As time passed, it grew louder. Soon, line upon line of troops wearing green armor occupied the market. A flag marked the troops as those of Tremania. In the background, what appeared to be a Bern Naval Reinforce mission, had failed miserably to a superior navy, no doubt constructed by the Zora, a few which were in ships, but many were not. The troops friendly with Hyrule greatly outnumbered those of Bern. The troops of the allies were also ready to fight and well rested, whereas Bern's troops were tired and battered.

The battle went rather quickly. The two armies quickly surrounded their enemy. Those that did not surrender were immediately disposed of. Once the battle ended, the Tremanian commander sent his troops on a search mission: either destroy anything hostile to Hyrule, or help those that required assistance. As the commander walked around, the young fighter by the castle caught his attention. The kid was shaken awake. After the colonel checked him for physical injuries, the two headed to the boys' house. The colonel immediately saw the problem; the sword was in the women so deep, it actually went completely through her and into the floor, where it was jammed.

Behind the castle, in the passage where the king hid, many Tremanians found it and decided to retake it. The king was soon found alive and well, and the rest of Bern's troops were scouted out and disposed of with ease. On his way out, the king suddenly stopped at a scene where a Hylean officer lay, along with two Bern soldiers. Stricken with grief, the king continued out of the passages and through the hole on the ground by his castle.

The colonel retrieved the sword out of the woman. By some miracle, she still lived, though everyone knew she wouldn't survive much longer. The front door opened slowly, and the king joined the women, child, and soldiers within the house. To the woman, the look on his face told her everything. She knew what she had to do.
With a Dying Breath by Dragonwarrior
The lack of sun settled over Hyrule. The only movement came from a mother and child, who were leaving the market. The mother was breathing heavily, as though her feet weighed hundreds of pounds. Her son had little trouble keeping up with her. The bruises on his body, making it appear somewhat red, weren't visible compared to those on her.

As the moon settled atop the cloudless sky, the two figures could be seen in the middle of the everlasting sea of green. The women's breathing came in a staggered, staccato type of pattern now. After five more steps, she collapsed to the ground, too weak to go on. Unknown to her, they were not alone.
As she crumpled to the ground, a medium- sized figure approached the two. After a brief glance at the mother, it was easy to tell that she was gone, though the boy was using all his energy to reawaken her. The middle- aged man approached the boy and persuaded him to follow him. He led the boy to a fallen tree, which was both enormous and hollow. After passing through it, a bridge led across a valley to another, almost identical stump. In this section of the forest, kids were running around, enjoying themselves, until they noticed the two people walking through their forest. The man led the nervous boy past them, and into a different valley, which seemed to center around a large tree. The boy could almost swear he saw it breath.
"You've finally arrived. Is this the one?"
" Yes, I found him and his mother in the field. His mother died seconds before I found him."
As these words were spoken, one of the inhabitant children approached, and was shocked by the two strangers in front of the tree. He looked nervously at the tree.
"You called for me?"
" Yes, I have tried to contact Saria, but this has gone unnoticed. I need you to get her attention. Ask her to come down here as soon as possible. Also, if you and anyone else who is willing to help will start hollowing out the dead tree next to Saria's house, this would be greatly appreciated."
"Um…sure, I guess I can do this."
With these confused words, he walked out of the valley, toward the main forest.
A few minutes later, a girl about as old as the strange boy came to the tree. She looked as confused as her neighbor, but she smiled at the two visitors.
"Saria, this boy is new to the forest, and will be staying here for a while. Can you help him feel welcome here?"
"You can count on it."
With that, she grabbed the boy's hand and ran him out of the meadow. She led him to her house, where she gave him some food. As he was eating, another boy came in and whispered to the girl.
She led the newcomer to the tree which had been hollowed. Added to it was a bed, chair, and a table. A ladder was set up outside which led to a balcony, which is where the door to the inside was located. The house seemed to rise above all others.

One morning, Link awoke to the sound of something in his house. He lay still for a few minutes. The silence broke when a small voice was heard.
"…The Deku Tree asked me to find you, so let's get going, right now!"
