Chapter 1
Deep in the library of the Royal Family of Hyrule, there is a book. It is a small book that is said to have appeared at the time of Hyrule itself. The book is dwarfed by some of the other books in the library, and at twenty-five pages, it is hardly a worthwhile read. The book tells the story of why Earth and Hyrule are separated and shall remain so for all time. Of course, there is the case of time travel; if there existed an anomaly in Hyrule that could bend time itself, a small hole in the dimensional gate would open and passage would be possible. But of course that is impossible, and unless the prophecies are right with their babbling about the Hero of Time, no such thing could ever happen.
The book has a counterpart on Earth, and it was found by a rare book dealer. He gave it to his daughter, Virginia.
A.K. woke up with a start. He looked at his calendar, which read “May 18th, 2015.” ‘That’s right,’ he thought; it was 2015. He was on Earth, not some mythical, Celtic-like land called Hyrule. The dreams had plagued him for quite a while, but they weren’t regular foggy dreams. These were different; they were clear and concise and (extraordinarily enough) had no girls in them (which was a first, considering his adolescent subconscious).
“A.K., get out of bed! Now!” screamed a small voice. When he stopped contemplating his dream for a moment, he realized that his mother was calling him.
“Man, the first thing I’m going to do when I get a job is ask for a sound-proof door,” he thought out loud. A.K. lived in a mansion in Miami, Florida, and his father was Alexander Garcia, the Bill Gates of his generation. A.K. was just his good-for-nothing, fifteen-year-old son. Of course, A.K. had things going for him; he was of a medium height and long, brown hair…and not much else. A.K. wasn’t stupid, he was just slothful. He was a very gifted child, but he had little motivation.
A.K. dressed himself and headed out to school. He looked awfully shabby for a kid who was in a suit and tie, and shabbiness was very sinful at DASH Academy, the most prestigious high school in all of Florida. A.K. fiddled with his iPod, and once he found a song he liked, he put it in his pocket. Then he saw her; she was a beautiful girl with long platinum blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. Her name was Virginia and she was the hottest girl at the school.
“Hey!” he shouted, and she turned around quizzically.
“Andrew Kurt Gonzales?” she asked.
“No, it’s Garcia, and call me A.K.,” he said, correcting her and blushing at the same time. This caused her to laugh.
“You’re blushing, A.K..,” she said, snickering.
“Well…I can’t help it,” he said calmly. She looked at him curiously and then pulled out a book. It was written in some weird language that A.K. couldn’t understand. The very small book had a leather cover; A.K. couldn’t believe that it had more than twenty-five pages.
“Read the cover,” Virginia ordered. A.K. struggled with the words, but he finally managed to say it.
Suddenly, a gate appeared. It had a Celtic appearance to it, but Virginia couldn’t see it. A.K. walked into the gate only to find himself in the middle of a forest. There were tons of little kids there, and A.K. was in shock; they all looked the same. They all had blonde hair and blue eyes.
“Where the fuck am I?” he asked, and he noticed he still had the book. Looking at it, he recognized these words: Terra and Hyrule. Remembering Latin, he knew “terra” meant Earth. Putting two and two together, he realized that he was in the land that had plagued his dreams for months: the Land of Hyrule.
