The Desert Colossus by Sage of Light
Aleno prepared a small pouch in which she would be carrying food supplies for a four day journey. The desert Colossus was fiftythree miles away and Aleno wanted to reach it within four days or less. Seya sadly helped Aleno finish the preperations for her travels between training sessions. She had easily passed the gerudo training grounds, but now she was learnig to fight without her sword or bow. Seya rarely bragged but she addmited she had one of the most deadly shots in all of gerudo valley. The sun beated harshly down upon the large stone structure. The stones remained cool, but the atmosphere remained humid and hot.
Aleno finished storing the last of her food when she asked Seya to return to training. She did as she was told and Aleno left silently during the mid afternoon.
The sun set and the moon rose over the great valley, bringing the refreshing cool breeze, but leaving the rocks of the fortress warm. Seya walked swiftly through the fortress, stopping every so often to peer out one of the large holes in the walls that acted as windows. She stared up at the stars then returned her gaze to the gerudo's guarding the enterence to the fortress. The grand watchtower towered high above her head and Ieani glanced thoughtfully back to Seya then returned to her duty. The enormous goledn gate however, was out of place, it had been raised and now was creaking back towards the sand covered dirt.
"Why has the gate been raised?" Seya asked herself. "Aleno!" Seya raced towards Aleno's chambers to find it empty. In the night, without Aleno's cheeful items being lit by Aleno's usual fire, the room seemed dank, dark and depressing. "I can't believe she left without saying goodbye!" Seya fumed. She exited the fortress, breaking her promise to Aleno and ran towards Ieani, who could give her her needed information. She quickly climbed up the tall ladder, the air becoming colder as she did. "Ieani, tell me, when did..." The top of the tower was forsaken, not a soul in sight. "Ieani?" Seya asked gently as a rustling noise was heard from behind her. She slowly turned, and placed her palm around her small, curved dagger. Seya felt she could not return to the ground by ladder. She decided instead to jump over the edge of the tower rail and follow Aleno to the deser colossus. She did know the way, although she was afraid, but she figured it was better than going back to the fortress.
She had made the right desicion.
At the foot of the tower, climbing up the ladder was a spy of Ganondorf. It was, in fact, Edward Prince of Hyrule, clothed in black armour with a large sword at his side. He discovered that very night the fools to whom he had assigned the simple task of killing a six year old girl had failed. He was ordered by his master to find the girl and bring her to him. Edward had reason to believe she had run to the forest of Kokiri, and had ordered many of his thousands of soilders to burn the forests until nothing but dirt remaind. However as Edward returned the next day, all 50 of his men had been killed by and unknown force. However they all had died the same type of death. They were all killed by a sword, and engraved in every back of the 50 dead men was the symbol of the old royal family of Hyrule. The Triforce. Edward had recieved information from a gerudo watchgirl that the leader of the gerudo's was currently placed at the desert colossus, and her advisor had just set out. Also, he recieved information of a more delicate gerudo following the advisor from another gerudo guard. Angrily, he silently left the valley of the gerudo to prepare an army to ambush the advisor and recieve information, any way possible on the whereabouts of his sister, Princess Zelda.
