Nightblade by Dragonwarrior
Summary: Out of the whole Legend of Zelda series, Link's past is neither known or explained at any point. His future remains blank as well. This is a story about Link's life, mainly focusing on times that we don't know what is going on. Later on, it will contain crossovers to Fire Emblem, Lufia: The Legend Returns, Soul Caliber II, as well as many others. It will also contain reference to two fanfictions already posted on this site. These are "Origins" which was written by Kasuto of Kataan, and "The Story of Linette" by Magaret Hogan. Unfortunatly, I guess I was really tired when I read it (way to go Marching Band!), I misread the name as Lisette, but it is essentially the same person. As of the moment, it is rated G, but it will have violent quotes in it later on. For those of you who just saw this, I do know how to spell the word "Legend."

With a Dying Breath by Dragonwarrior
The lack of sun settled over Hyrule. The only movement came from a mother and child, who were leaving the market. The mother was breathing heavily, as though her feet weighed hundreds of pounds. Her son had little trouble keeping up with her. The bruises on his body, making it appear somewhat red, weren't visible compared to those on her.

As the moon settled atop the cloudless sky, the two figures could be seen in the middle of the everlasting sea of green. The women's breathing came in a staggered, staccato type of pattern now. After five more steps, she collapsed to the ground, too weak to go on. Unknown to her, they were not alone.
As she crumpled to the ground, a medium- sized figure approached the two. After a brief glance at the mother, it was easy to tell that she was gone, though the boy was using all his energy to reawaken her. The middle- aged man approached the boy and persuaded him to follow him. He led the boy to a fallen tree, which was both enormous and hollow. After passing through it, a bridge led across a valley to another, almost identical stump. In this section of the forest, kids were running around, enjoying themselves, until they noticed the two people walking through their forest. The man led the nervous boy past them, and into a different valley, which seemed to center around a large tree. The boy could almost swear he saw it breath.
"You've finally arrived. Is this the one?"
" Yes, I found him and his mother in the field. His mother died seconds before I found him."
As these words were spoken, one of the inhabitant children approached, and was shocked by the two strangers in front of the tree. He looked nervously at the tree.
"You called for me?"
" Yes, I have tried to contact Saria, but this has gone unnoticed. I need you to get her attention. Ask her to come down here as soon as possible. Also, if you and anyone else who is willing to help will start hollowing out the dead tree next to Saria's house, this would be greatly appreciated."
"Um…sure, I guess I can do this."
With these confused words, he walked out of the valley, toward the main forest.
A few minutes later, a girl about as old as the strange boy came to the tree. She looked as confused as her neighbor, but she smiled at the two visitors.
"Saria, this boy is new to the forest, and will be staying here for a while. Can you help him feel welcome here?"
"You can count on it."
With that, she grabbed the boy's hand and ran him out of the meadow. She led him to her house, where she gave him some food. As he was eating, another boy came in and whispered to the girl.
She led the newcomer to the tree which had been hollowed. Added to it was a bed, chair, and a table. A ladder was set up outside which led to a balcony, which is where the door to the inside was located. The house seemed to rise above all others.

One morning, Link awoke to the sound of something in his house. He lay still for a few minutes. The silence broke when a small voice was heard.
"…The Deku Tree asked me to find you, so let's get going, right now!"
