Chapter 5: Leadership by MadSkillz
Arthur walked through the streets of Hyrule, eavesdropping on every conversation. Most were talking about the King's speech that had happened a while ago. He then saw a group of people armed with different sorts of weapons crowding around a part of a wall. He approached the group and pushed through to the front. There was a wanted poster with his face on it. It also had a reward of fifteen thousand rupees and said to bring him...dead.
"Bring me dead?" Arthur muttered.
"What was that?" A man next to him said.
"I didn't say anything," Arthur replied with his head tilted down.
"Yeah you did mate, I 'eard ya," Said another man in the crowd.
"You said 'Bring me dead' didn't ya?" Another said.
"No..." Arthur replied.
"Look at us lad!" Said the first man and pulled Arthur's face up.
"Blimey...'E's the one on the poster!" He announced.
"Yer a dead man walking," The second man threatened.
"I don't think so," Arthur replied and brought his hands together. He disappeared in a puff of smoke and reappeared on the roof of another building. As he free-ran between buildings, he checked behind him for pursuers. There were none. With a sigh of relief, he dropped to the ground and walked out of the Castle Gates.
He walked towards his cottage and spotted Aryu walking in its general direction. He a smirk, he stealthily went behind her and clasped her shoulder. Swiftly she grabbed his hand and flipped him over her shoulder. Arthur landed on his back.
"What the hell Aryu?!" Arthur complained.
"I'm sorry, it was my reflexes," Aryu apologised.
"Shall we head to my hideout?" Arthur said whilst getting up.
"I was on my way there but...you know," Aryu replied.
"I know. You were heading in its general direction but you were still off," Arthur laughed.
"Some of us aren't shiekah lovers like you are..." Aryu muttered.
"What did you say?"
"Nothing,"
They entered the cottage and Arthur looked around. No one was there and the place was undisturbed.
"Everyone should be back by now..." Arthur pondered.
"Perhaps something happened to them," Aryu suggested. "Clovis took Beat, Richard and Leia to see Drake."
"Clovis?" Arthur asked, raising an eyebrow.
"One of Skull King's sins," She replied.
"That doesn't explain Finn and Lukas," He stated.
"Maybe Clovis took them too," She suggested.
"Then I guess we'll have to pay Drake a visit and find this 'Clovis' too," Arthur decided.
"I'm getting tired of waiting," Finn yawned.
"There's nothing we can do," Richard said.
"Richard is right," Lukas agreed.
"I have an idea," Finn replied and made a mark on a tree with his sword. Then he proceeded to look at the hoof marks left on the ground by the Stampeder.
"What are you...?" Lukas asked.
"I'm going to track where they came from. I left marks on the trees so that, if we get lost or they get back and we're not here, they'll know where we went," Finn explained.
"I'm not so sure about this," Richard said.
"Just trust me. They're locals, they can't have gone far from where they live. Trust me," Finn replied. "Alright we'll go with you, I'll be making those cross marks for you," Richard said.
Finn followed the tracks to an open clearing where more Stampeders were munching grass. There was no sign of where the locals had entered.
"It seems that we've reached an impasse," Richard stated.
Finn's face turned into a scowl as he thought. He asked himself where he would approach the Stampeders if he were to ride them like the locals had done. As he thought, Lukas tried to grab his attention.
"Uh, Finn?" Lukas asked.
No response.
"Finn?" He tried again.
No response. Lukas took in a deep breath.
"FARM BOY!" Lukas shouted.
"What?" Finn snapped as he stopped concentrating.
"Look," Lukas said as he pointed towards the sky. There was smoke rising up from the ground.
"Oh," Finn muttered. "Lets go over there, its probably their campsite or something."
Quietly, the group of three made their way in the direction of the smoke.
Beat and Leia walked down the trampled path that the Stampeder made. Along the way, they talked. "Why do you dislike Finn so much?" Beat asked. Leia looked away.
"I don't want to talk about it," Leia replied. "I hear you're supposed to be my king."
"No, I'm not. I'm just a Hylian," Beat replied. "I'm surprised that you said that though."
"Why's that?" Leia asked.
"You always wince at the mention of our race, I thought you preferred being a Shiekah," Beat laughed.
"I don't really prefer being either," Leia replied. There was silence afterwards. As they continued walking, they heard voices. They grew louder and louder as they carried on. The voices revealed themselves to be the two locals from before. One had good figure and hair that was brunette, wavy and went down to her shoulders. The other had a slim figure, brown eyes and blonde hair that was tied back in a ponytail. There was no sign of the Stampeder from before.
"I'm trying Mist!" Solace argued.
"It’s been three weeks, Solace. That’s far too long for someone to learn how to control a Stampeder," Mist argued back.
"Well I guess I'm not most people then!" Solace growled.
"...Lets head back to the village," Mist said. The pair turned to walk down the trampled path and saw the other pair.
"Solace, get behind me," Mist ordered, pulling out a knife.
"I'm not a kid, I can fight," Solace snapped, pulling out a knife of his own.
"What if they're from that village?" Mist hissed.
"Well then-" Solace started.
"Whoa, calm down. We're not from that village or whatever. We're not even from around here," Leia interrupted.
"You're from Cardinal then?" Solace asked.
"What?" Leia replied.
"Where are you two from? You don't look like people from around here. One of you has red eyes…no one has red eyes," Mist questioned.
"We're from a place called Hyrule, we were sent here by our enemy," Beat explained.
Solace and Mist put on confused faces.
"Hyrule?" Solace asked.
"What's that?" Mist asked.
"A whole different world to yours. We were hoping you could take us to your village," Beat suggested.
"Alright, come with us," Mist said, leading the way for the two. When they got back to where they were before, they saw cross marks on trees.
"What the...?" Leia started.
"Richard, Finn and Lukas aren't here either. Lets follow those signs," Beat ordered.
The group followed the cross signs to the clearing with Stampeders. They looked around for more cross marks and they found some. As they followed the marks, they quickly found the group of three.
"Are we even going the right way anymore?" Richard asked.
"Well we should be, I can kind of still see the smoke," Finn answered.
Lukas noticed the others behind them.
"Hey guys," Lukas greeted. Finn and Richard turned around.
"Hey," Richard and Finn said in unison.
"Who's idea was this?" Mist asked.
Richard and Lukas pushed Finn forward.
"Uh, it was...mine," Finn answered nervously.
"Well, you managed to track us properly to the Stampeders. That earns you my respect. However, you're way off course now," Mist said.
"Oh..." Finn muttered. "And you are?"
"Mist and this is Solace," Mist introduced.
"Can we go home please?" Solace complained.
Mist nodded and the group followed her lead. As they were walking, Leia slapped Finn on the back of his head.
"Ow!" Finn shouted.
"Stupid Farm Boy," She growled. "Do you have hay for a brain?"
"First off, I'd rather you call me Finn and secondly, I don't have hay for a brain. I just got tired of waiting for you," Finn snapped.
"I don't know what Arthur sees in you..." Leia muttered. The group continued walking for a while until they were on a dirt path that took them to an open area of trees. There were a lot of tree houses and buildings that blended in with the trees.
"Welcome to Moka village!" Mist exclaimed.
In the dead of night, Anise climbed the vines not too far from the first set of gates near Hyrule Castle. She was dressed in black and had a pack full of different weapons with her. She silently crept down the path until she was at the gates.
She climbed down the ladder and took out a guard. After hiding his body, she crept around the field, avoiding the guards' attention.
When she was at the main gates, there was a single guard there. He was patrolling the length of the gate.
When his back was turned, Anise armed herself with a small shiv. Steathily, she crept up behind him and shivved his neck. The guard died without making an outburst. She took his keys and opened the gate.
She then moved around to the side of the castle. There was a door there that was unlocked, at least it had seemed so. Drake had assured her it would be before she came. She reached for the doorknob and turned it. It was unlocked.
She crept in and closed the door quietly behind her. The room she was in was the storage room, it wasn't too wide, however it had a high ceiling with a chandelier dangling from the middle. The head of storage would often come and check on all the items in storage.
Quickly, she made her way to the door opposite and slowly opened the door. She looked to her left and right for any guards, maids or servants. There were none in this corridor.
Silently, she made her way to the throne room and let herself inside. She waited in the shadows, perfectly camouflaged, for the King to come.
After a while, the King entered with Drake in tow. The King sat in his throne and Drake began to speak. Anise took out a throwing knife from her pack and threw it at the King.
It impaled him in the stomach. The King looked to Drake for help with pleading eyes. He did nothing but smile. Anise finished off the job by slitting the King's throat.
Drake clapped.
"Well done. Very well done...you left quite a bit of mess though," Drake laughed.
"I have done my job. My King will get the throne," Anise spat.
"Very loyal," Drake noted. "Let us get your King."
Drake opened a rift using his Dimensional Shard and stepped inside with Anise.
"Why are we here again?" Anise questioned.
"I have discovered a secret with this," Drake answered, holding up the shard. "It can take you anywhere you want to be."
Anise raised an eyebrow and Drake threw his shard, opening another rift. When they went through, they found themselves within Skull King's throne room. Skull King was on his throne.
"Did you get the job done?" Skull King asked.
"Yes, my King," Anise replied, bowing.
"Good," Skull King smiled.
"Let us go and get your new crown," Drake said opening another rift.
Back in the castle, the guards were looking at the King's dead body. The guards went into their fighting stance and Anise went into her fighting stance.
Drake put out his arm.
"Guards, this is the time I talked to each of you about," Drake said. The guards lowered their weapons, stood tall and saluted.
Drake gave the crown to Skull King. Skull King then sat on the throne of the old king. Everyone in the room bowed to Skull King.
"I think it is time to inform the citizens of their new leader," Skull King smiled.
