Waves crashed down on the seas as a large boat rocked and glided across them, almost pushing them out of the way.
All the while, inside a small neat cabin laid a girl who almost dug some sort of cave in her bed sheets. The ship tilted slightly, causing her to tumble out of her bed.
The girl made a growl as she pulled apart the bed sheets. She looked at her surroundings before sighing. She frowned again and looked up.
“Link!” she screamed. “Get my breakfast lazy bum!”
No answer…
“Damnit,” she growled before fixing her hair blonde hair into an up curl. She looked into the mirror and at the tan blue-eyed pirate captain who looked perfect like always. If she didn’t, then she would never leave her cabin.
She walked out of the cabin and leaped down the stairs before looking around to see Niko, who had the slight appearance of a beaver scrubbing the wooden floors.
“Niko!” she shouted to get his attention. He jumped up and quickly stood up straight and put his hand up in a salute to the captain.
“Where’s Link,” she said in a acidly sweet tone. Niko shrugged.
“He’s probably up on deck already Miss Tetra,” Niko stuttered.
Tetra made a frown before walking up the stairs and out onto the deck.
It looked the same as usual; with everyone making sure that the ship was working fine and going in the right direction. Tetra spotted Link talking to Mako, the person who usually was the smartest of the bunch, but not as witty as she was. His fixed his glassed before conversing Din-knows-what with Link.
Link, a boy dressed in a forest green tunic and coned shaped hat, had no idea that Tetra was on board. Some said that he was given the most respect for Tetra, since she allowed him to talk freely and survive her wrath unlike the others. Of course then again, if you thought Tetra was nice, you could probably say he was given the worst respect from her out of all the other pirates.
She vigorously walked up to him and gave him a hard slap in the back of the head. That certainly got his attention.
“What was that for?” Link said angrily as he turned around. Tetra smiled; satisfied that he got the pain of her attack.
“That was for not bringing me breakfast when I asked for it!” she said. Link glared at her and crossed his arms.
“If you want breakfast in bed, go sleep in the kitchen!” Link growled.
All the other pirates sighed, as Tetra was about to start another ferocious fight with Link.
“I am the captain of this ship and you will do what I ask!”
“The world doesn’t revolve around you!”
“That doesn’t mean you should just sit around on your butt all day!”
“I don’t sit on my butt all day! I help out more than you ever could!”
“You wish!”
“You know when I snap, you’ll be the first on my list!” Link finished loudly. Tetra frowned as the pirates sighed in relief. Link always finished any fight with Tetra that way.
Tetra shot a fierce glare at Link before walking away. Everyone stood there stiff as a board.
Tetra then crossed her arms in frustration. “Well! What are you all waiting for? Get to work!”
Right on cue, everyone seemingly awoke suddenly and got back to their jobs.
Tetra looked at Link’s sea chart, examining every island on the Great Sea with a sigh. The only island in view was Kuni Island, which was known for it’s daily night festivals. That would make all her crew want to party until dawn, getting stupidly drunk.
She frustratingly folded the piece of paper in hand and rolled her eyes. “There should be a prison for idiots!” she muttered.
Too loud…
“A prison for idiots,” said an annoying voice that Tetra hated more than anything else in the world. “Let me guess, according to you, I would be in there for a long time…”
“Yes, Link, if there just was a prison for idiots, then life would be heaven because you would be locked up in jail for a lifetime,” Tetra growled.
“You busy?” Link asked. Tetra frowned.
“Yes I’m busy…”
“You don’t look busy…”
Tetra made a loud sigh. “Of course I don’t look busy! I did it right the first time!”
“Ha, ha,” Link replied dully. “You know I liked you better when you were a Princess.”
“That’s only because I needed saving,” Tetra replied acidly. “I don’t need you anymore.”
Link made a mock pout. Tetra rolled her eyes and raised her hands as if surrendering.
“I’ve just kidnapped myself! Give me one million rupees or you’ll never see me again!” Tetra cried with mock enthusiasm. She then put her hands on her hips. “Happy now?”
Link snickered before replying. “Unfortunately no… Nice try though…”
“Would you miss me if I was kidnapped?” Tetra asked with fake sweetness. Link frowned.
“How can I miss you if you won’t go away?”
Tetra made a frustrated sigh and blocked her ears and started to sing. “Row! Row! Row your boat gently down the stream! Merrily! Merrily! Merrily! Merrily! I just have to scream!”
She shot a glare at Link. He smirked before saying only one line as he left.
“If you see me getting smaller, I’m leaving,” Link chuckled. Tetra sang her song again to cool off some steam. That song always seemed to work, and with the exception of Link, people thought it very rude and usually left.
“Why can’t Link be like everyone else,” Tetra sighed and pondered.
Tetra walked downstairs and into the kitchen where Niko made the usual leftover fish. She frowned in disgust. Every day they either had fish or crab when they neared deserted islands.
Link suddenly and unfortunately walked up to Tetra with a scowl on his face.
“Tetra this is insane,” he complained. “We’ve had fish for a week! We have to head west for Kuni Island!”
“Kuni Island! Yeah!” some of the pirates cheered and catcalled. Tetra sighed.
“No,” she replied. “I’m not letting you all party all night and get drunk.”
The pirates moaned. Link crossed his arms.
“We need more storage! We’re running out of food!” Link replied.
“You’re lips are moving but all I hear is blah, blah, blah,” Tetra said annoyed. “Anyway, we have plenty of fish. You just don’t want to eat it again. Stop being a baby and be lucky that your eating food at all. You’ve changed from Superman to Supperman!”
Link growled. “Do you have any respect for anyone at all?”
Tetra crossed her arms. “ I can only please one person a day. Today is not your day and tomorrow doesn’t look good either.”
Link made a frustrated sigh as Tetra made a sheepish grin as she walked by him. Until she regretted ever passing him before, because then she immediately tripped due to Link who stuck his foot out.
The pirates couldn’t help but snigger at this. Tetra knew she deserved it for mocking Link, but that didn’t control her temper.
“What’s so funny!” she shouted at everyone. Link made a sheepish grin.
“Tetra,” he chuckled. “It’s only funny until someone falls… Then it’s hilarious…”
She deserved that one. She rolled her eyes once more before getting some fish. Everything seemingly and oddly enough went back to normal.
Unfortunately, after that dinner, she realized that Link was right. She was getting very sick of fish, for that had been the only food she had in weeks.
“Alright we’re going to Kuni Isle, happy now?” she said, angrily to the crew on deck.
Everyone cheered and to her surprise, the pirates were in high spirits and worked even harder to make sure the boat was going as fast as it could.
And to her despair, Link was also grinning at her, because she was admitting that he was right. She gripped her head in anger. This day was extremely frustrating.
Once they got to Kuni Isle, it was a gasp from all of them. Kuni Isle was one of the most sun-drenched isles on the Great Sea. In front was what appeared to be a place for tourists. Stands for shops and cabanas were lined along the beach. While covered by a few palm trees were a huge bazaar where it was obvious people had their festivals.
“Finally were here!” shouted a couple pirates as they cheered in delight. Tetra walked up to them.
“No beer drinking alright?” she said sternly. They took off instead of listening to her. Tetra shook her head with a sigh.
“Well… This day couldn’t get any worse,” Tetra sighed. Link walked past her. They both exchanged glares.
“I’m sorry, I spoke to soon,” she muttered to herself.
She didn’t want to go to the festivals and find some idiots drooling all over her… Or watching her pirate crew get drunk and embarrassing her to the extreme… Or having to put up with Link who was obviously going to the party… So she made her usual excuse of being busy.
The pirate ship wasn’t at the mainland. Since it did attract attention, and possibly more than enough suspicion. So they stopped at a small island not to far away from the mainland.
It was very small, for only three giant oddly bent trees stood over the water. One of them had a swing tied to it, so she decided if she was bored, she could go on it and think more quietly than lock herself in her tiny cabin.
She did for a time, looking at Link’s sea chart and marking down islands they needed to stop to go to for more storage.
Once that was finished, she walked outside to notice it was darkening. She didn’t care. She only climbed onto the swing and trailed a bit of the salty sea with her foot.
It was getting darker and Tetra looked up to see the sound of someone swimming over to the island she was on.
At first, Tetra had no idea who it was and planned an attack if came even near her.
Until then she saw a green hat and blonde hair in the water when the stranger came closer. Tetra groaned.
“What do you want?” she asked angrily.
“Can’t I come to keep you company?” Link asked in a fake sweet tone.
“No,” she simply and sternly replied. Link made a sigh and sat down on the beach.
“Well, I sensed that something bad was going to happen when the crew started to sing ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, little star,’ at the festival while taking a whole cup full of beer down their throats,” Link said. Tetra rolled her eyes. Not at him, but because of her idiot crew.
“Did you get any storage?” Tetra asked while jumping off the swing. Link shook his head.
“What!” Tetra shouted. “You mean all of you partied all day and didn’t even stop to think about getting supplies! That’s the main reason we’re here! Not so you can just get drunk and party!”
“For a minute there you bored me to death,” Link replied with a smile.
Tetra glared at him. For a second, she hated Link so much… Time seemed to freeze as she looked up at him again and straight into his emerald green eyes.
And she had to do something… She didn’t know what, but she had to just…
Just love him… echoed the wisest of voices in her mind. She then made a devilish grin as time began to run normally again.
“Well lets make things interesting,” she grinned. Link raised an eyebrow.
“And how shall we do that my fair princess,” he asked in an over exaggerated tone.
Tetra grinned. There was no stopping it now. She had to let it out. If he disapproved of this, she would order him never to mention it again. If he did, then she would get rid of him forever, she promised herself. If he did approve… Well, then she had no clue of what would happen next.
But this was now, and what happened now was what mattered.
Bringing Link into a state of shock, she moved forwards and pressed her lips against his. For a moment, Link could do nothing but stand still, until then Tetra felt him relax, and she broke away.
Link raised an eyebrow. “That… was amazing,” he breathed. Tetra giggled before grabbing him and slamming him down onto the sand. She did the same thing once more, only this time Link was ready and they shared an even happier moment together.
And for once, Tetra didn’t care if she was acting too girlish. This had made her happy after all the frustrating moments of today.
“What’cha thinking?” Tetra asked, not knowing what else to say. Link sighed as Tetra sat on top of him.
“I’m thinking that someone must have spiked my drink or drugged it,” Link replied. “Because I’m either very drunk, or maybe even passed out so this isn’t real. Or else I’m having a very realistic hallucination.”
Tetra snorted before giving him another quick kiss. She then stood up.
Until Link grabbed her wrist…
“I don’t think were done,” he said, while pulling her down on her back against the sand. Like Tetra did to Link, he now sat atop of her.
Tetra made a frustrated sigh. “I can’t get out of this can I?”
Link grinned. “I’ve grown tolerant to pepper spray, so no, there’s no way out.”
He then kissed her back before sitting back up and grinned.
“So Tetra,” Link asked. “Do you love me?”
“Unfortunately yes,” Tetra growled. “I can’t fight back my feelings for you. And you won’t kill them for me obviously.”
“Does this mean that you’ll have respect for me?” Link asked hopefully.
“Hmm,” Tetra thought. She then grinned. “You’ll have to change before I can like you.”
Link sighed in frustration. “You know Tetra, when I snap, you’ll be the first on my list.”
